I read “The Old Woman who swallowed a Fly”. This story is about an old woman, a fly, a spider, a bird, a cat, a dog, a goat, a cow and a horse. This book is very interesting and unbelievable. I will tell you about this story. There was an old woman who swallowed a fly, so she swallowed the spider to catch the fly. Next, she swallowed the bird to catch the spider. But they wriggled and tickled inside her. Also, she swallowed the cat to catch the bird. Gradually her abdomen was big. At last, she swallowed a horse to catch the cow. She was taken an X-ray of her abdomen. I can see the animals inside her. There are a lot of animals inside her. When she swallowed a horse, she died.

I think that it is natural that she will die. It is unbelievable, isn’t it? If we swallowed a horse, a cat, a cow, a dog and a goat, we are sure to die. I don’t know why she swallowed a fly. I cannot do a thing like that. She is an amazing woman. By the way, the illustration of the book helps me to read. Also the same expression is repeated, so it is easy for me to understand the story. Essay 2-02b: My Language Learning Experience

I have ever learned some languages. For example, English, German and Vietnamese. It is difficult for me to learn language, but I want to talk with a lot of foreigners, so I learn language. I will tell you about my language learning experience.

First, I will tell you about my early English learning experience. My favorite language is English. I have learned English since I was a junior high school student. I didn’t like English when I was junior high school student, because it was difficult for me to learn English grammar. I didn’t know how to study English. So I went to ECC junior. The teacher of the cram was a very interesting woman. I could learn English pleasantly. I enjoyed listening to English songs and playing games. I learned English little by little and I became to like English. Also, I would often talk with ALT when I was a high school student. Because I am not good at speaking English. We talked about a lot thing such as culture, favorite food and so on. I could know English culture. I am interested in English culture so I had a good time.

I am happy because I am an English major in college now. English get more and more difficult. It is hard to learn English but I will do my best. I want to take English official approval and TOEIC. I love English.

Next, I will tell you about my German learning experience. In university, I took German. At first, it is difficult for me to learn German, because there are a lot of words and grammar. I had to memorize a lot of things, but I became to be able to write and speak German a little. Then, I like learning German language. Now I think that I want to learn German language more.

Finally, I will tell you about my Vietnamese. I learned Vietnamese when I was a high school student. I have a friend who is from Vietnam. She came to Japan when she was a junior high school student. So she can speak Vietnamese. She taught me Vietnamese after school. Vietnamese was unfamiliar for me. I had never heard Vietnamese. So it was difficult for me to pronounce Vietnamese. The pronunciation is very different from Japanese pronunciation, so I couldn’t pronounce Vietnamese. She taught me Vietnamese hard, but I gave up learning Vietnamese halfway. Now I don’t remember Vietnamese at all. If I have an opportunity to learn Vietnamese, I want to learn Vietnamese again.

As you can see, there are a lot of chances to learn language. It is important for me to learn language. I want to communicate between people of different cultures. Language learning experience is very useful, so I want to learn other language. I am interested in Korea and China, so I want to learn these languages in this university. I will do my best.

I read “King Donkey Ears”. I want to this book because the illustration is very cute.　This story is about a King. He has donkey’s ears. No one knew except the servant who cut his hair. So he sent the servant to prison. One day, Meg saw the king’s ears. She promises that she will not tell anyone. But she wants to tell, so she tells a tree. Then a woodcutter chopped down the tree. The tree became a harp. One day, a huge concert was held. But the new harp played a very strange tune. “The king’s got donkey’s ears”. The king roared at Meg, but his best friend told him that it was not a secret, and they all knew. Then he freed all the servants, and he loves his ears.

He didn’t like his ears, but I think it is very cute. His donkey’s ears look like rabbit. He thought that donkey’s ears are his weak point, but he became to like his ears. I also want to become to like my weak point. I have a lot of shortcomings. I think that most of the people know this story. This story is famous in Japan. The most famous one’s lines is “the king’s got donkey’s ears.” I like it very much. I often said it when I was a child. I read this story in English for the first time. Souvenir

Yesterday I was given this hand cream by my friend. She is one year older than I, and we are the same part time job. She studies English in Kumamoto prefectural university. She wants to teach Japanese to foreigner in the future. So she went to Korea to study and training for a month. I haven’t seen her for a long time. I asked her to buy a souvenir. Volunteer

Today I went to Oozu to do a volunteer activity with Sayaka. We went to an institution of a mentally retarded person. In the morning, I got up at 5:30 because I have to take the train at 6:05. The train is the first train. It is hard for me to get up early, so I was sleepy. In the train, I met my high school friend. She went to college to prepare for the cultural festival. She is a Kumamoto prefectural university student. She will sell dumpling in the festival.
When I arrived at Oozu station, the bus was sent to pick me up. There are a lot of high school students. We set up a refreshment stand in the festival. We sell chow mein. It costs 250 yen. We ate a lot of food during we were free. For example, a waffle, a grilled chicken, takoyaki, sobameshi, and so on. They are cheap and delicious. There are many kind of refreshment stands, so I was irresolute. I was given 5 hundred yen’s worth of ticket. In addition, I bought 250 yen’s worth of ticket.
In the stage, elementary schoolchild were dancing and singing. And Kyuushuu nursing welfare university students were beating a drum. It was very cool.
At last, we did our best to sell all chow mein. We met Kamekichi. He often appears on TV and he is the today’s guest. We said to him, “Please buy chow mein.” But he didn’t buy it. He said, “I bought too much.” I was very said, I want him to buy it. We sell a lot of chow mein, and the total was about a hundred thousand yen. But 5 chow mein left unsold. Contrary to our expectations, a lot of chow mein was sold. So I was happy.
The festival broke up at 15:30. I was very tired, but I had a good time. I want to take part in a volunteer activity again.

BR 2-08: Frogs

I read “frogs”. This book is explained frogs. I don’t like frogs because they are very revolting. The worst animal is frogs. I have not liked frogs since I was a child. I often see frogs in the rainy season. So I don’t like the season. But I like the tadpoles. They start to change soon. First they grow back legs. Then they grow front legs. Their long tails shrink. Frogs are the amphibians. They can swim fast in the water, moreover hop around on land. I can understand frogs in the book. For example, all frogs need water to stay alive, but they don’t drink the water. Each week, they change their skin. The largest frog is as big as a cat. I was surprised at it. We often hear their singing. The male frogs sing to the females. After singing, the male and female frogs get into pairs. Then the female lays eggs in the water. I can find out more about frogs. I like flowers and my mother also likes flowers. So there are a lot of flowers in my house garden. It is very beautiful. She grows various flowers in the garden. I read “Little Red Riding Hood”. Do you know the story? I think everyone know the story because it is famous all over the world. I like it very much. I read the story when I was a child, but I have never read it in English. So I want to read it in English.

A wolf ate Little Red Riding Hood’s grandmother. Then he went into bed to wait for Little Red Riding Hood. She said, “What big ears you have.” “What big eyes you have.” If I were she, I notice that it is not my grandmother without question. Her grandmother is very different from the wolf.

I read a lot of books such as “Little Red Riding Hood” when I was a child. But I seldom read books now, because I don’t have time and I don’t think I want to read books. However it is easy for me to read this book because I know this story. I read “New tricks”. This story is about Mick. He was terrible at remembering things. Fortunately, the wonderful Natalie remembered everything. She is Mick’s new assistant. Mick was going to perform at a magician’s show. He was also going to do two new tricks. The day of the show came. After the magic, the audience laughed.
